Valley Glen: Suspected DUI Driver Trapped Under Big Rig After Crash

10.19.2019 | 1:46 AM | LOS ANGELES – A suspected DUI driver was trapped in his vehicle and lodged under the trailer of a big rig, early Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving big rig with a driver trapped in the 12400 block of Sherman Way in the Valley Glen area around 1:46 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a black Scion TC lodged under the trailer of a big rig with a person trapped.

Firefighters worked for over 30 minutes to cut apart the Scion and lift the trailer.

Paramedics treated the driver on scene before transporting him to an area hospital.

Initial reports indicate the driver of the Scion was driving recklessly along the southbound I-5 Freeway from the SR-118 Freeway when a suddenly exited at Sherman Way and drove up a dirt embankment.

The vehicle continued through the dirt embankment and back onto the on ramp where it t-boned the trailer of a big rig.

An investigation is ongoing but authorities suspect drugs and/or alcohol were involved.
