Utility Worker Dies At Hermosa Beach Jobsite

A utility worker died Wednesday night after suffering an apparent medical emergency while working at a jobsite in Hermosa Beach.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on September 30, 2026, near Bayview Drive and 2nd Street, where utility work appeared to be underway and portions of the area had been closed.
Workers and responding paramedics performed CPR on the man for approximately 30 minutes in an attempt to revive him. Despite those efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial reports raised the possibility that the worker had been electrocuted. However, that had not been confirmed, and it remained unclear whether the death resulted from an electrical incident or another medical emergency.

The victim was located near a boom truck on Bayview Drive. Hermosa Beach police officers and workers were seen attempting to shield the scene from public view while the investigation continued.
Several coworkers remained at the jobsite following the incident, with some appearing visibly shaken.
The worker’s identity and employer had not been officially confirmed, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
