UCR Student on E-Scooter Critically Injured In Riverside Hit-And-Run
A UCR student suffered major injuries after being struck by a semi-truck in an apparent hit-and-run Tuesday evening near the northbound 215 Freeway in Riverside.
Riverside police and firefighters responded around 7:56 p.m. on September 29, 2026, to University Avenue near the northbound 215 Freeway on-ramp following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a semi-truck.
According to the reporting party, the semi-truck struck the student in the crosswalk at the freeway on-ramp before continuing onto the northbound 215 Freeway.
First responders arrived to find a male victim down in the roadway next to an electric scooter. He was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
The semi-truck did not remain at the scene. Preliminary information described it as pulling a gray container with blue lettering. No license plate information was immediately available.
Riverside police are investigating the collision and working to identify the truck and driver involved.
