U-Haul Pursuit Ends After Police Cruiser Catches Fire

At approximately 4:00 a.m. on June 25, 2026, Los Angeles Police officers pursued the driver of a U-Haul truck through Downtown Los Angeles.

According to information from the scene, the driver repeatedly brake-checked the pursuing patrol vehicle, causing the police cruiser to crash.

Investigators are treating the incident as an assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer due to the suspect’s alleged actions during the pursuit.

Following the collision, the damaged LAPD cruiser caught fire.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded and quickly extinguished the blaze before it spread further.

Despite the collision, the U-Haul driver continued fleeing before the pursuit came to an end near 23rd Street and Main Street, where officers took the suspect into custody.

After being arrested, the suspect requested medical attention and was evaluated by emergency personnel.

The investigation into the pursuit and the officer-involved collision remains ongoing.
