Two Shot In Boyle Heights, Gunman Escapes

A late-night shooting left two people injured and prompted a large police search in Boyle Heights early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. on July 8, 2026, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of 15th Street and Velasco Avenue.

When officers arrived, they located one adult male and one adult female suffering from gunshot wounds.

The male victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The female victim was also believed to have been transported for treatment, though authorities had not confirmed her condition.

During the search for the suspect, officers briefly detained a man near Grande Vista Avenue who was later determined not to be involved and was released.

According to investigators, the suspect was last seen fleeing westbound while armed with a 9mm handgun.

As of the latest update, the suspect remains outstanding.

The Los Angeles Police Department is continuing to investigate the shooting.
