Two Seriously Injured After Car Crashes Under Semi-Truck

Two people, including a child, suffered major injuries early Tuesday morning after a sedan collided with a tractor-trailer and became wedged underneath it in West Rancho Dominguez.

The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. on September 22, 2026, at the intersection of San Pedro Street and El Segundo Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old man was driving a white Hyundai sedan southbound on San Pedro Street at a high rate of speed with a juvenile passenger inside.

Investigators said the Hyundai entered the intersection against a red light and collided with the rear of an eastbound Freightliner tractor-trailer. The big rig, driven by a 45-year-old Moreno Valley man, had entered the intersection on a green light.

The impact left the Hyundai wedged underneath the tractor-trailer.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded and transported both the 18-year-old driver and the juvenile passenger to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood with major injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
