Two People Flown By Helicopter For Burns After Fiery Crash On 99

Around 2:40am, emergency crews responded for a reported fiery crash on the Grand Parkway, near FM-2920. They arrived to find a fully involved Honda Fit, as well as two victims with burn injuries. The victims, a 28 year old female and her 7 year old son, both had extensive burns and Life Flight was requested. Two helicopters responded to the scene and transported the son in critical condition to UTMB Galveston, as well as transporting the mother in stable condition to Memorial Hermann Downtown.

Per Harris County Sheriff Traffic Investigators, the vehicle was reported to have failed to maintain lanes, and then crashed into the center divider, causing it to ignite. Good samaritans stopped to assist and found both the victims out of the car as it became fully engulfed.

Intoxication is believed to be a factor in this crash and an investigation is underway. Possible charges are pending.
