Two Houston PD Officers Injured in Crash

Just after midnight, officers were dispatched to a reported stabbing incident in the northeast area where it was believed suspects were still on scene.

While responding to assist other officers, two HPD officers were involved in a major crash while traveling northbound on Homestead.

Both officers suffered minor injuries and were transported to a hospital. They are not in critical condition and each has approximately one year with the department.

Their patrol vehicle caught fire shortly after the crash.

A good Samaritan (a wrecker driver) who arrived on scene quickly helped rescue the officers from the vehicle and brought them to safety.

The suspect fled the scene. Although officers have identifying information, the suspect has not yet been located.

Investigators believe the suspect’s vehicle may have exited a nearby parking lot or side street, striking the officers’ vehicle. The exact origin is still under investigation.

It is believed the officers had their emergency equipment activated at the time of the crash since were en route to an assist.

- Note: (Update, confirming) – Officers were responding to the fatal stabbing at 7300 Bigwood. Per Lt. Ali via phone ” The officers were heading to assist on that stabbing as the suspect was still on scene. “
