Two Arrested after Major DUI Crash | Phoenix

04.02.2022 | 2:30 AM | HOUSTON – Arizona DPS troopers and Fire crews from the cities of Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria and Tolleson responded to reports of a serious multi-vehicle collision on southbound Loop 101 at Indian School Road around 2:30 AM Saturday morning. Upon arrival crews found multiple vehicles blocking various lanes of travel and one heavily damaged SUV with a trapped patient. DPS initiated a hard closure for Southbound 101 from Camelback Road to Indian School Road. Firefighters immediately began working to extricate the trapped driver while additional crews worked to administer aid to multiple other patients. The driver was quickly cut from the mangled SUV and transported to a local trauma center in serious but non life threatening condition. This incident resulted in a total of 3 collisions involving 6 vehicles. DPS has confirmed that 2 suspects have been taken into custody for DUI, speed, reckless driving, and impairment are believed to be contributing factors in this incident.
