Two Arrested After Armed Robbery Suspect Search In South LA
Two people were taken into custody following an apparent Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department operation and subsequent neighborhood search Sunday night near South Los Angeles and Willowbrook.
The incident unfolded around 9:15 p.m. on September 14, 2026, near 120th Street and Central Avenue.
Approximately 10 undercover or unmarked sheriff’s vehicles converged on suspects at the intersection. One person was taken into custody near the initial scene while another fled into a nearby neighborhood, prompting deputies to establish a search.
Scanner traffic described those being sought as armed robbery suspects and indicated firearms may have been involved. Authorities had not immediately confirmed those details or disclosed what operation led deputies to the intersection.
A second suspect was eventually located several blocks away following the search. That person appeared to have possible injuries consistent with a K-9 apprehension, although authorities had not confirmed how the injuries occurred.
Los Angeles County firefighters also responded to the incident.
No additional information regarding the alleged robbery, possible weapons recovered or charges against those detained was immediately available.
