Truck Strikes Teenage Girl in Crosswalk | Whittier

06.15.2021 | 5:17 PM | WHITTIER – A female juvenile crossing the crosswalk was struck by a turning truck, suffering major injuries Tuesday evening.

Whittier Police and paramedics responded to the intersection shortly after 5:15 PM regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.

Arriving, authorities located a female down in the roadway after being struck by a red pickup truck.

The pickup truck was turning left from Westbound Penn Street to southbound Pickering Avenue when the driver struck the female who was crossing the south crosswalk.

The female was sent flying and then ran over by the red pickup truck. The female was semi-conscious and taken to a trauma center in unknown condition.

Police cordoned off the area and interviewed the driver, who cooperated with police and remained on scene. The female was described as being high school aged.
