Truck Slams Into Waymo In Pico Union Hit-And-Run

At approximately 11:00 p.m. on May 20, 2026, officers responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a Waymo autonomous vehicle near Venice Boulevard and Vermont Avenue in the Pico Union area of Los Angeles.

Investigators say a large truck slammed into the rear of the Waymo while a passenger was inside the vehicle.

Authorities confirmed the passenger was not injured during the collision.

The truck driver fled the scene before officers arrived.

Representatives from Waymo were reportedly responding to the scene to assist with the vehicle and passenger.

The investigation remains ongoing.
