Train Kills Male Who Was Trying to Save a Dog

DETAILS:

  1. The Train Conductor of the NCTD Coaster told the 1st Responders that he was traveling at 60 mph when he saw a male attempting to free a dog that was somehow tied to or stuck on the tracks.
  2. The train hit its brakes, but the male was hit and thrown off the tracks.
  3. Officers found a dog leash on the tracks, but no dog was found.
  4. The male may have been walking his dog, as the officers stated that the victim did not appear to be a transient.
  5. Both the AMTRAK Surfliner and the NCTD Coaster have been stopped.
