One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and others were transported after Jeep Crashed on the bike trails of the Santa Ana River and then rolled, landing on its side Just Under the bridge over the Santa Ana River. At around 12:30 AM, first responders were dispatched to reports of a traffic collision on South Riverside Avenue near the Santa Ana River. When they arrived on the scene, they found the grey jeep way off the road and that it had landed on its side under the bridge in the bicycle train. Further investigation, the Colton fire reported several victims, one of them in “traumatic arrest.” When we arrived on the scene, the other victims appeared to have been transported. The condition of the other victims is unknown. However, Colton Fire and PD performed active CPR on the victim in traumatic arrest. They performed CPR for nearly 30 minutes before it could be seen that they declared the victim deceased. Law Enforcement quickly taped off the bike trail and lit flares. Other off-roaders could be seen driving to the scene and quickly flagged away by LEO. How the vehicle ended up crashing and landing where it is under investigation, as damage to fences and track and tire marks suggest many scenarios. The scene is under further investigation.
