Three People Rescued After Falling Into Mineshaft

- Just before 11 PM Thursday night, there was a report of three people that had fallen down a mineshaft in the hills just west of Johannesburg, about 1 mile west of U.S. Route 395.
- Two of the three fell about 15 feet down the shaft, they are uninjured, they were rescued almost immediately after the USAR crew arrived.
- The third party fell 100 feet down the shaft and has suffered major injuries.
- The team has begun to prepare the rescue of the last member of the party.
- Kern County Urban Search and Rescue has been flown out via helicopter to assist.
- Their equipment is being transported by truck and is far behind.
- Firefighters rescued the third patient who had life-threatening injuries and was transported via helicopter to the nearest hospital
