Three Males Arrested in Shooting Incident | Laguna Hills

04.08.2021 | 12:23 PM | LAGUNA HILLS (CNS) – Three boys were taken into custody Thursday following a shooting in Laguna Hills authorities said could gang-related.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to Dinosaur Park in the 25000 block of Alicia Parkway on reports of a possible gunshot victim, according sheriff’s Public Affairs Director Carrie Braun.

Deputies located one victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, who was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital by the Orange County Fire Authority.

Three boys attempted to flee the scene, but were detained by deputies after a short foot chase, Braun said. The suspects — whose names were not released due to their ages — will be booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of the shooting.

Responding deputies initially believed there was a fourth outstanding suspect based on witness statements, Braun said. The sheriff’s department conducted a thorough search of the area, but it is believed all suspects were taken into custody.

An investigation revealed the shooting occurred in the Via Lomas neighborhood near the park, Braun said. The victim walked to the park after being shot, prompting a bystander to call the sheriff’s department. Investigators searched the original area of the shooting for evidence.

A vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting was located at the park and searched, but no weapons were recovered from it, Braun said.

The shooting may be gang-related and the OCSD Gang Enforcement Team is leading an investigation into the incident, Braun said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call the OCSD Dispatch at 714-647-7000. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
