Three Dead After Shooting And Officer-Involved Shooting In Downey
Three people are dead following a double homicide and an officer-involved shooting Saturday morning in Downey.
At approximately 7:50 a.m., officers responded to the 11800 block of Downey Avenue near De Palma Street following reports of gunfire.
Arriving officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound and later discovered an adult female who had also been shot. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, officers were then contacted by an armed man while still at the scene. An officer-involved shooting occurred, and the man was struck by police gunfire.
The armed man, who authorities say was suspected of killing the male and female victims, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were injured.
The identities of the two victims and the suspected gunman have not been released. Authorities had also not immediately confirmed whether a firearm was recovered.
Homicide investigators are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the two killings and subsequent officer-involved shooting.
