Thousand Oaks: Pursuit Ends With Standoff, Man Throwing Road Flares

05.09.2020 | 9:30 PM | THOUSAND OAKS – A man who led officers on a pursuit before throwing flares at them during a standoff was arrested, Saturday night.

Officers attempted to stop a man in a silver SUV near the SR-91 Freeway and SR-71 Freeway in Chino around 9:30 PM.

The pursuit continued into the city of Thousand Oaks where a successful spike deployment caused the vehicle to stop on the Northbound US-101 Freeway at Ventu Park Road.

For three hours the suspect refused to comply with officers and could be observed throwing numerous flares towards officers.

A gas can was also observed inside the vehicle prompted a special response team to respond to the scene.

Using less-lethal ammunition the team took the man into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported and the scene was cleared by 12:25 AM on Sunday morning.
