Thousand Oaks: Barricaded Man With Possible Explosives Prompts Evacuations
11.12.2018 | 6:53 PM | THOUSAND OAKS – A barricade situation was ongoing after authorities responding to a small fire discovered explosives, Monday evening.
Police and fire officials responded to an apartment complex located at 14 McAfee Court shortly before 7:00 PM reference reports of a small fire.
Crews arriving on scene located a small fire that was extinguished prior to their arrival.
During their investigation authorities discovered a residence with a barricaded front door and an individual inside refusing to exit.
Officials attempted to make access by climbing a ladder to the balcony of the apartment before discovering what appeared to be explosive devices near the kitchen.
Authorities quickly evacuated the apartment building and summoned the Ventura County Sheriff Department’s Bomb Squad.
The incident was ongoing as of 11:00 PM.
No injuries were immediately reported.
