Tempe Police Unmarked Mustang Involved In Crash

DETAILS: According to a Tempe Police Sgt. on scene. A Tempe Police Sergeant was working with other Tempe Police Street Race Task Force units along with Phoenix Police Street Race Task Force units in the area near 27th Ave and McDowell Rd. The sergeant was passing through the intersection at 27th Ave and McDowell on a green light when a male in a black pickup truck, who was in the same intersection, made a left turn striking the sergeants unmarked Mustang. Neither the sergeant or pickup driver requested medical assistance. The driver of the pickup was taken into custody following a field sobriety test. Impairment is suspected but will not be confirmed until further tests are completed.
