Teenager Shot and Killed in South LA

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A 15-year-old teenage boy who was shot to death in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Vermont-Vista was identified by county authorities.

Officers were dispatched at 12:43 a.m. Sunday to a reported shooting in the 800 block of West 97th Street, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division said.

Arriving paramedics pronounced the victim, Anthony Smithers — who was identified by the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner– dead at the scene.

There was no other immediate information.
