Teen Killed, Sister Critically Injured In South LA Hit-And-Run

A teenage boy was killed and his sister was critically injured after they were struck by a car Tuesday night in South Los Angeles. The driver and a passenger fled the scene.

The collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. on September 22, 2026, near 60th Street and 10th Avenue.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a blue Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound on 60th Street when it struck two teenagers who were crossing the roadway. The Sentra continued forward and collided with a parked vehicle.

Witnesses reported that the car was speeding and ran a stop sign before striking the teenagers. The collision was reportedly captured on surveillance video.

The teenage boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while his sister was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Family members, including the victims’ mother, arrived at the scene as investigators examined the wreckage.

Police said the female driver and a male passenger exited the disabled Nissan and fled on foot in an unknown direction. No further description of the driver was immediately available.

Initial witness information identified the boy as 13, while LAPD information reported that he was 16 and his sister was 14. Their ages had not been independently reconciled.

LAPD is investigating the fatal hit-and-run.
