Teen Driver Runs Stop Sign, Passenger Ejected in Crash

At approximately 5:55pm on March 25th, 2026, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a major traffic collision at Ridgecrest Drive and West Hardy Road in Houston.

Upon arrival, deputies located a BMW 550 and a Honda Accord involved in a crash at the intersection. Investigators said the BMW was traveling eastbound on Ridgecrest and failed to stop at a stop sign, entering the intersection at a high rate of speed before being struck on the driver’s side by the Honda, which had the right of way.

The impact caused the BMW to spin, ejecting a rear passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt. The victim was transported to a hospital with CPR in progress.

The driver of the BMW, identified as a 16 year-old male, was transported in stable condition. The driver of the Honda, a 40 year-old male, was also transported in stable condition. Two additional passengers in the BMW were not injured, while a front passenger fled the scene on foot and had not been located.

Authorities stated speed and failure to stop were contributing factors in the crash, and the investigation may lead to possible criminal negligent homicide charges.
