Tanker With Unleaded Fuel Burns In Houston

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 6-1-24 | 9:50 p.m.
LOCATION: 5500 North Fwy @ Werner
AREA/CITY: Houston
DETAILS:

1. HFD responded to call of 18 wheeler on fire.
2. Crews arrived about 7 minutes later and found an 18-wheeler on fire with approx. 8800 gallons of unleaded fuel.
3. Two civilians were injured, transported to hospital.
4. One is non-life-threatening, the other TBD.
5. Hazmat came out and applied a foam blanket.
6. The scene is now being handled by TXDOT and a private hazmat company the truck owner hired to mitigate the scene.
7. Freeway to be closed for at least 3-4 more hours.
