Taco Stand Destroyed After Hydrant Crash

Between approximately 11:00pm and 12:30am on March 27th into March 28th, 2026, Los Angeles Police Department officers, along with Los Angeles Fire Department and Department of Water and Power crews, responded to a vehicle that struck a fire hydrant near Santa Monica Boulevard and North Citrus Avenue in Hollywood.

The impact caused a powerful water geyser, estimated at nearly 100 feet in the air, flooding the intersection and surrounding area.

Water from the broken hydrant poured onto a nearby taco stand, damaging a canopy and destroying food and supplies. The driver remained at the scene following the crash.

Crews worked for approximately an hour and a half to shut off the water and secure the area.

The investigation remained ongoing.
