Sylmar: Officer Attacked After Pursuit

11.19.2019 | 10:10 PM | LOS ANGELES – A police officer was injured after being involved in a fight with a suspect after a pursuit, Tuesday night.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department working a gang detail in the Mission Division attempted to stop a red Acura for unknown reasons.

The driver of the vehicle failed to yield, leading officers on a short pursuit to the man’s house in the 13600 block of Phillippi Avenue in the Sylmar area where he fled his vehicle on foot.

An officer gave chase and eventually took the male driver into custody after a fight that left one officer injured and the man tased.

Both the officer and male suspect were treated and transported by firefighter paramedics to area hospitals with minor injuries.

A female suspect from the vehicle was also taken into custody however it was unclear what charges she might face.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and subsequent arrest is ongoing.
