Sylmar: Bear Found Roaming Near Los Angeles Mission College

06.22.2020 | 1:30 AM | LOS ANGELES – A large bear was spotted roaming around a college before going to sleep in a tree, early Monday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a bear roaming the streets near the Los Angeles Mission College, located in the 13300 block of Eldridge Avenue, in Sylmar around 1:30 AM.

Units arriving on scene spotted the bear and followed him as he roamed the college campus and rummaged through trash cans.

Eventually the bear climbed a tree and appeared to go to sleep.

Animal control refused to respond due to the close proximity of the bear to the Angeles National Forest.

No injuries or serious damage was reported.
