SWAT Uses Drone To Find Hostage Suspect Sleeping

A wanted suspect accused of holding a woman against her will was found sleeping inside a Houston apartment after SWAT officers used a drone to locate him Monday afternoon.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. on August 17, 2026, Houston Police responded to an apartment near Crosstimbers Street and Fulton Street following reports of a woman being held against her will.

According to HPD Lt. Crowson, the woman had reached out to victim services for help. When officers arrived, people inside the apartment initially denied the suspect was there.

Officers were able to safely remove the victim’s mother and then the victim from the apartment. Police said the suspect remained inside and had allegedly threatened the victim with a pistol.

The suspect was also wanted on a previous warrant involving an alleged assault on the same victim.

HPD SWAT responded and began making callouts for the suspect to surrender. Officers eventually broke a window and deployed a drone inside the apartment, where they reportedly found the suspect sleeping on a bed.

SWAT officers then entered the apartment. Police said the suspect became combative and was tased before being taken into custody.

No officers, the victim or her mother were injured.

Investigators said the suspect could face an unlawful restraint charge, and authorities were considering obtaining a search warrant to look for the reported firearm.
