SWAT Standoff With Flare Gun-Wielding Man | National City
06.09.2022 | 9:30 AM | NATIONAL CITY – A male walked into the office of the National City AutoMaxx used car lot. at National City Blvd and 5th Ave.
He told a bag containing all of the keys to the cars on the lot, approx 40 cars.
He then ran off with an employee following.
The suspect turned and fire a flare gun into the air to scare off the employee. (can be seen in his back pocket)
The suspect made his way to the Rodeway Inn on Roosevelt Ave. where officers confronted him.
He climbed up onto the roof of the motel almost falling several times.
He made his way onto the roof at 616 National City Blvd.
The Police surrounded the building and a SWAT situation took effect as the man wouldn’t surrender.
CVPD negotiators were brought in along with SDSO’s K-9s.
The NCFD brought in their ladder truck and raised the roof to the building.
The suspect then started to move along the rooftops looking for an escape.
He finally went down a ladder to the ground.
he may have been bit by a K-9.
He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for any injuries he may have had.
