SWAT Ends Barricade Incident, NATIONAL CITY

DETAILS:
- Family members called 911 to say that a male family member was in medical distress after 2 days of being on illegal narcotics.
- Firefighters and Paramedics arrived to find the male being extremely violent towards them and the family members.
- The First Responders backed away, and the Police were called.
- The male suspect would not cooperate with the Police, and after several hours, the SWAT Team was called in.
- After another few hours, SWAT deployed flash-bang grenades and fireworks.
- Officers entered the home but could not find the suspect, but knew he was somewhere inside.
- They announced that they were going to use tear gas and approached the house.
- The suspect attempted to exit through the rear of the house and was detained.
- The suspect was naked at this time.
- The strange thing was that in the beginning, the Chief of Police, Alex Hernandez, a Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 3 Sergeants, and up to a dozen officers were at the scene.
- The incident took over 6.5 hours to resolve.
