SWAT Captures Two Felons After Hours Long Standoff | San Diego
05.28.2021 | 9:00 AM | SAN DIEGO – On the 19th of May, the suspect Jonathan Gutierrez lead NCPD on a pursuit and rammed an officer’s car. On the 27th of May, an SDPD officer spotted him in a large Chevy SUV., and another pursuit began pursuit.
The suspect went southbound on the northbound I-805 and into National City. SDPD stopped pursuing when he entered the freeway in the wrong direction. The suspect got back on the freeway and went east on Hwy into Paradise Hills and disappeared only to be found again in National City.
The pursuit went through the city until the suspect went southbound on the northbound I-5, and the pursuit was stopped once again.
This morning, SDPD found out that Gutierrez was at a residence on Ocean View Blvd. He was considered to be armed and dangerous. As other people came down the alley, they were stopped and then released. SWAT surrounded the building and made call-outs for the people inside to surrender. After several hours 2 females and Gutierrez surrendered. Another wanted felon, John Mena was found hiding in a car and was arrested.
