SUV Parked On Tracks Hit By Freight Train In Houston

At approximately 11:27 p.m. on April 21, 2026, a vehicle was struck by a freight train near the 800 block of Sampson Street in Houston.

Investigators say a woman in her 40s was inside a Ford Expedition that was stopped on railroad tracks when it was hit by a passing train. The reason the vehicle was on the tracks remains unclear.

The woman was transported to a hospital in stable condition. Two dogs that were inside the vehicle were recovered and taken to a local shelter.

The train crew was not injured in the incident. The train cleared the scene shortly after 1:20 a.m.

The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.
