SUV Obliterated After Rear-ending Disabled Semi

AZDPS and Phoenix Fire responded to reports of a serious vehicle collision involving a SUV and a disabled semi truck.

According to DPS on scene, the driver of the SUV veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and collided into the back of a semi truck and trailer stopped on the right shoulder.

The SUV was believed to be traveling a highway speed at the time of impact.

The adult male driver was extricated by Phoenix Fire crews and transported to a local trauma center where his condition is currently unknown.

The collision resulted in the closure of all lanes except HOV triggering a significant eastbound 202 traffic delay.

The lanes of travel have since reopened and the flow of traffic has been restored.
