SUV Goes Airborne Onto I-10, Causes Major Crash

At approximately 2:17 a.m. on June 21, 2026, Houston Police responded to a major traffic collision on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near the Waco exit.

According to investigators, witnesses reported that a blue Ford Explorer was traveling at a high rate of speed on the freeway service road when the driver lost control.

The SUV reportedly went airborne over an embankment and landed on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10.

After crashing onto the freeway, the Explorer collided with another vehicle occupied by four people.

Two occupants of the struck vehicle were transported to a local hospital and were reported to be in stable condition.

The driver of the Ford Explorer suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash. It remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 between the Waco and Lockwood exits were shut down while Houston Police processed the scene and conducted their investigation.

The crash remains under investigation.
