Suspect’s Car Goes Airborne In Violent South LA Crash
A police pursuit ended in a violent multi-vehicle crash that left several parked cars heavily damaged early Wednesday morning in South Los Angeles.
At approximately 1:00 a.m. on August 19, 2026, LAPD officers were heard over radio traffic pursuing a suspect eastbound on Imperial Highway from Main Street.
Shortly afterward, Los Angeles firefighters were dispatched to a traffic collision in the 800 block of East Imperial Highway, in the same general area as the pursuit.
The suspect vehicle reportedly struck a curb and became airborne, crashing over a parked car with enough force to tear off its roof.
The vehicle then slammed into another parked car, causing extensive damage to its rear. At least one additional vehicle was also involved in the collision.
The violent crash brought numerous residents out of their homes as emergency crews responded.
At least one suspect was seen being transported from the scene by an LAFD ambulance. The person’s condition was not immediately available.
