Suspected DUI Driver Crashes Into Riverside Home

A suspected drunk driver crashed into a Riverside home Wednesday afternoon, causing significant structural damage and displacing the residents.

At approximately 2:40 p.m. on July 29, 2026, Riverside Fire Department and Riverside Police Department responded to the 7600 block of Philbin Avenue following reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a residence.

When crews arrived, they found a vehicle that had traveled completely into the home, causing extensive damage. Video from the scene shows the vehicle lodged inside what the homeowner identified as his bedroom.

According to police, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

City inspectors later evaluated the residence and red-tagged the home, deeming it unsafe to occupy and forcing the residents to relocate.

The homeowner, who spoke off camera, said he was in the restroom when he heard the vehicle crash into the house. He told reporters that the impact damaged his front door, trapping him inside until a neighbor kicked the door open to help him escape.

It is unknown how many people were living in the residence at the time of the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
