Suspected Drunk Driver Killed In Head-On Houston Crash
A suspected drunk driver was killed after a head-on collision late Sunday night in northeast Houston.
At approximately 11:00 p.m. on July 27, 2026, Houston Police responded to the 9300 block of Tidwell Road after reports of a head-on crash involving a pickup truck and a sedan.
According to the preliminary investigation, the sedan crossed the center divider and collided head-on with the pickup truck.
The driver of the sedan, who investigators believe may have been speeding and driving under the influence, was rushed to a local hospital, where the driver was later pronounced dead.
The female driver of the pickup truck was also transported to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the crash, but preliminary information indicates that both speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors.
Officials noted that the stretch of Tidwell Road where the collision occurred is a dark roadway that has long been known for speeding.
The Houston Police Department continues to investigate the fatal crash.
