Suspect Shot By Officers After Pursuit

Today, around 2:10 p.m., Southeast Area officers were near 113th Street and Compton when they began following a vehicle linked to a felony warrant. They were in a brief pursuit with the suspect when he drove into the eastbound 105 Freeway on-ramp.
While on the on-ramp, the suspect made a U-turn, stopped the vehicle facing the officers, exited, and fled westbound along the off-ramp on foot. Upon reaching the intersection of Central Avenue, the suspect reached into a backpack he was carrying.
At that moment, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital.
A search of the backpack revealed no weapons.
No officers or community members were injured during the incident.

    LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles police pursuit of a suspect ended in
    a shooting involving officers near Willowbrook today, but it was unclear if
    anyone was injured.
    The shooting occurred on the Central Avenue onramp to the eastbound
    Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway. The on- and off-ramps at Central were closed
    Wednesday afternoon while an investigation was conducted.
    ABC7 reported that one person was taken to a hospital from the scene,
    but no details were immediately available.
    It was unclear what precipitated the chase and shooting, or where the
    pursuit began.
