Suspect Shot By HPD After Pointing Gun At Officers
At approximately 6:44 p.m. on June 11, 2026, Houston Police received a report of a suspicious person armed with a weapon near the 14300 block of Westheimer Road.
According to investigators, the caller reported that a Black male had pointed a weapon at him and his child. The caller and child took shelter inside a nearby restaurant while waiting for officers to arrive.
A two-officer unit responded to the scene and located the suspect. Police said officers gave the man commands to drop the weapon, but he instead fled on foot.
The pursuit continued into a nearby neighborhood near the 2400 block of Briar View. During the chase, investigators say the suspect pointed the weapon at officers multiple times.
Officers repeatedly ordered the suspect to drop the weapon while also warning nearby residents to move out of the area.
When the suspect allegedly refused to comply, one officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
According to Houston Police, the officer who fired his weapon has approximately five years of service. A second officer, who was serving as a field training officer and has been with the department for approximately eight months, did not discharge his weapon.
Authorities said the suspect has a prior criminal history and has been arrested multiple times in the past.
The officer-involved shooting remains under investigation.
