Suspect Shot By Houston PD

DETAILS:
- HPD units responded to reports of a suspicious person with a weapon.
- The call was in regards to a disturbance with a security guard asking a Hispanic female to leave the premises.
- When officers arrived the Hispanic female walked off.
- The security guard told the officers were the Hispanic female walked too.
- Officers located that female and she was detained.
- A Hispanic male began to approach the officers.
- The officers gave verbal commands to the male to stop and show them his hands.
- The male did not comply with any of the commands the officers were telling him.
- The Hispanic male then made a sudden move towards the officers and a officer discharged his weapon more than once, striking the suspect.
- Officers rendered aid to the male.
- The male was taken by ambulance and is in critical condition.
- The female was also transported by ambulance for reasons unrelated to the shooting.
- Assist Chief would not say which part of the body the suspect was truck.
- They are still processing the scene and searching for any weapons.
- They are at the beginning stages of their investigation.
- The HPD officer who fired his weapon, has under two years of service with HPD.
- Both suspects are in their 20’s.
