Suspect Shot After Freeway Pursuit Ends in Spring Valley Crash
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 1/29/2026 5:28p.m.
LOCATION: 8645 Tyler St.
AREA/CITY: Spring Valley, CA.
DETAILS:
- Around 5 p.m. Chula Vista Police was in a Failure To Yield vehicle pursuit with a possible 245 suspect (Assault W/ Deadly Weapon).
- The pursuit entered the Northbound I-805 Freeway with the suspect reaching speeds of over 100 m.p.h. The pursuit continued onto the Eastbound SR-54 freeway from the I-805. The suspect got off on the Jamacha Road exit from the Northbound SR-125 and headed North on Sweetwater Road.
- The suspect’s vehicle got into a traffic collision at the intersection of Sweetwater Road and Tyler St.
- The suspect got out of the vehicle and fled towards the 8600 block of Tyler St in which a Officer Involved Shooting occurred shortly after.
- Cellphone footage given exclusively to OnScene.TV shows the suspect on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. A nearby Chula Vista Police Officer was seen standing over the suspect’s firearm.
- The suspect was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
