According to Tempe Police:

1. Officers with the street race task force attempted to stop a vehicle seen committing several traffic violations.
2. The suspect rammed a Tempe Police vehicle resulting in officers opening fire on the suspect.
3. The suspect fled the scene prior to the shooting and was later apprehended.
4. He was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
5. Tempe Police detectives are investigating the critical incident.
