Suspect Parkours & Gets Tackled By Cops After Standoff | San Diego
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2-20-23 6:10 am LOCATION: Mission Valley Center Mall CITY: San Diego DETAILS: A man was spotted acting erratically on the rooftop of the shopping mall near the Target store on the westside. When officers made it to the roof top, he fled east on top of the mall. They finally were able to cut the suspect off towards the east end of the mall. The man told the officers he would jump off. The suspect appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic. At one point, the suspect threw a flashlight down towards an officer. The police called for negotiators including a Chaplin. The male had no intention of a suicide, he was just attempting to flee from the officers. They offered him water, and then McDonald’s food, but the male would not surrender. Firefighters brought a ladder for him to climb down, but again he refused. They male finally jumped from the northside mall buildings onto a kiosk in the middle of the mall. The Chaplin again tried to talk to the susepct and the suspect them jumped from the kiosk onto the south side mall buildings, just as officers made their way to the rooftop. The officers jumped on the male and took him into custody. He was brought down and checked out by the Paramedics.
