Suspect Killed In Officer-Involved Shooting At Houston Pet Facility

A wanted suspect was fatally shot by Houston police Tuesday night after officers said he produced a weapon and made a motion toward a police K9 while officers attempted to take him into custody.
The officer-involved shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. on September 29, 2026, at 9616 Yuppondale Drive in Houston.

According to preliminary information from Houston Police Chief Diaz, a crime suppression team had been conducting surveillance on a suspect wanted for indecency with a child involving sexual contact.
Officers were surveilling the suspect’s workplace and used a drone to identify him at the property. When police contacted management, they were told the suspect was in the rear portion of the business.
Police said the suspect attempted to evade officers by jumping a back fence but remained on the property, which was described as a facility that cares for pets.

A Houston police K9 handler and crime suppression officers entered the property and attempted to negotiate with the suspect. Police said he entered a room and turned off the lights.
As officers made entry, the suspect allegedly produced a weapon. Officers ordered him to put the weapon down before a police K9 was deployed.

According to police, the suspect then made a motion to injure the K9, prompting officers to open fire. The suspect was struck approximately two to three times.
Officers immediately began performing CPR until Houston Fire Department personnel arrived. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the officer-involved shooting remain under investigation. No injuries to officers or the police K9 were reported in the preliminary information provided.
