Suspect Gets Away During 13 Hour Stand Off at 7-Eleven

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9-23-25, 3:00 a.m.
LOCATION: Broadway & Pine Ave
AREA/CITY: Long Beach
DETAILS:

On September 23, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Long Beach Police Department responded to reports of a robbery suspect who had barricaded himself inside a 7-Eleven near Broadway and Pine Avenue.

Officers initially observed the suspect on surveillance cameras inside an office. Throughout the morning, LBPD SWAT teams attempted multiple entry methods, including breaching doors, deploying drones, and using rooftop access to monitor activity. It was believed the suspect had piled items inside to gain access to the ceiling.

At one point, SWAT discovered an unsecured emergency exit and were unsure if the suspect had escaped. Later, officers learned the suspect had tunneled into the adjacent Pinkberry business. SWAT searched that location but did not locate him.

The barricade lasted more than 13 hours. During operations, SWAT deployed over 20 gas canisters and several flash-bang devices in an effort to force the suspect out. Despite an extensive search of the 7-Eleven and adjacent businesses, the suspect was not found.
