The officer spoke with the female, and while he suspected at the time that she was involved with the car, he had no proof and did a “Field I.D.” on her. Shortly after, a second officer spotted a reported stolen Honda Civic on Scripps Poway Parkway in the Miramar North area. The officer attempted to stop the driver, but the driver fled at high speed. The pursuit went through the Mira Mesa area, and often, the driver would go the wrong way down the street. The SDPD ABLE helicopter was able to get overhead of the stolen vehicle, and the Patrol Units backed off because of the suspect’s dangerous driving. The helicopter followed the driver into the Sorrento Mesa area when he stopped the vehicle on Setting Sun Way. He ran to a residence and hid under a Cadillac SUV in a driveway. Officers found the male and arrested him at gunpoint. It was here that the officers searched the male and found paperwork from the Hyundai that had been stolen from him.
