Suspect Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting
At approximately 11:41 p.m. on May 29, 2026, San Bernardino Police officers responded to a shots-fired call at an apartment complex on North California Street in San Bernardino.
At the same time, California Highway Patrol dispatchers were advised that multiple San Bernardino Police units were responding with lights and sirens and requested assistance with establishing a perimeter around the scene.
According to witnesses, officers were already at the apartment complex when gunfire erupted. Witnesses reported seeing an officer being rushed from the scene by another officer while holding his neck.
The injured officer was transported by a fellow officer to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities later confirmed the incident was an officer-involved shooting.
The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police said the injured officer is expected to recover, although details regarding the officer’s injuries and the events leading up to the shooting have not yet been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
