Suspect Crashes After High-Speed Pursuit

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 7/13/24 approx. 12:30 AM
LOCATION: E st x 36th. St.
AREA/CITY: San Bernardino
DETAILS:

  1. On July 13th, 2024, at about 12:30 AM, CHP attempted to stop a white sedan for high speed on the Eastbound 10 Freeway near the 215 Interchange.
  2. The vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued.
  3. The suspect exited Waterman Ave, and CHP lost visual.
  4. CHP officers regained visibility near E st and Inland Center.
  5. The suspect continued Northbound E St at speeds of 80-90 MPH.
  6. While approaching E St. and Rialto Ave, the suspect stopped and let out the passenger.
  7. The suspect continued North on E St. until he crashed at a high rate of speed into a power pole at E St. and 36th St.
  8. Officers were able to extricate the driver and take him into custody.
  9. The suspect was non-compliant and combative with officers and medical personnel.
  10. He was eventually transported with unknown injuries.
  11. San Bernardino PD possibly wanted him for a shooting, but this was not confirmed.
  12. The crash took power out to the area, including all the traffic lights.
  13. It’s unknown how long power will be out for the affected area.
