Sunland: Semi Truck Hauling Lettuce Overturns, Catches Fire After Striking Disabled Vehicle

12.30.2019 | 12:20 AM | LOS ANGELES – A semi truck hauling lettuce overturned and caught fire after colliding with a disabled vehicle, early Monday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a semi truck overturned with a fire starting on the westbound I-210 Freeway just east of Sunland in the Sunland area around 12:20 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a semi truck that had reportedly struck a disabled sedan causing it to overturn on its side.

A small fire started from the vehicle’s engine and fuel was leaking but both hazards were quickly mitigated by fire responders.

The driver of the sedan was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The semi truck driver was uninjured.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
