Sun Valley: Man Running On Freeway Suffers Major Injuries After Being Struck By Car

09.22.2019 | 9:29 PM | LOS ANGELES – A man was hospitalized with major injuries after being struck by a car while he ran in lanes of a freeway, Sunday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian on the northbound I-5 Freeway near Sunland Boulevard in the Sun Valley area around 9:29 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a male pedestrian who had been struck by a black SUV.

Firefighter paramedics treated the male victim on scene before transporting him to an area hospital with major injuries.

The driver that struck the pedestrian remained on scene and was cooperating with law enforcement.

It was unclear why the man was running on a freeway when he was struck but he may have been trying to access a nearby homeless encampment.
